Trip to The Shore Oceanarium, Malacca Part 1

Salam and Happy Sunday to all of you!

For today's post, I'm going to share my overdue retreat to Malacca, last Chinese New Year Holiday. I went to Malacca for 4 days 3 night trip together with my family.

Currently, my dad is staying in Malacca in order to handle a sewerage project in Alor Gajah. He been there around 8 months already but we do not have chance to visit his place. So, we are taking this long holiday to spend some quality time with my dad and at the same time I want to see how much Malacca have change after I left the city in 2004.

Oh, forgot to tell you. I used to study in Malacca at MARA Professional College for 1 year in order to fulfill the requirement of foundation of my course Higher National Diploma ( or HND for short) in Business and Marketing. Then after 1 year, I move to Seri Iskandar, Perak to take HND in Business and Marketing for 3 years. So, 1 year of foundation and 3 years of the proper diploma takes me around 4 years just to complete my HND study! During that time, I always joke around with the elders who always ask me why I took so much time just to complete my diploma.

"Well, makcik (aunt in malay) I am taking medical course, that's why."

And then I will left them puzzle about what exactly I am doing. That's the only way to shut their mouth and stop talking nonsense about me.

Actually, during that time, my course is an experimental course which is my batch is the first batch in Malaysia to take HND. So, of course there is glitch, delay, misunderstanding etc..etc..and it takes time to make it right. Our test and papers are originally from United Kingdom (*so proud of myself*) and we do have privilege to continue our bachelor degree in UK.  The 'UK people' only grant 1 scholarship to the best student who score more than 3.5 CGPA. I only score 3.2 so, I am not eligible to get the scholarship, but I do got the offer to continue the study at Bradford University. Unfortunately, due to money restriction, and that time, my dad just finished doing his heart surgery,  I decided to continue my study in UiTM, Malaysia.

Okay, enough about my education background. I will tell you more later in the future blog (^ - ^) Now, back to my latest trip and I found out that my old campus is no more there in Jalan Hang Tuah. The campus have moved to Tiang Dua, Air Molek which I do not have any idea where it is (google map and waze, please..)  and during our 4 days 3 night there, we stay at my dad's rent house in Rembia, Alor Gajah.

We went there by bus 'Cepat Express' from Sungai Petani at 10.30 pm and we reach Alor Gajah Sentral around 5 am

The Oceanarium Tickets

As been told by the friendly staff there, this is only the first phase. The second phase will be coming soon by the end of the year or in the early year 2016

So off we go inside the building after our tickets been scanned by the pretty staff there (^-^) (seriously, that lady is really pretty)

And we been greet by this Albino Eastern Snake-Neck Turtle

Then we went to the most attractive place of this Oceanarium, The Interactive Touch Pool, where I got to touch lots of sea creature. The sea creatures offers to be touch are the same concept as been offer at Aquaria, KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.

Sea Cucumber - so colourful!

A little bit shy Sand Shark. I love touching them. Their skin is so sandy and hard. That's why their name is Sand Shark

Horseshoe Crab. I am a little bit afraid of this creature especially their sharp, pointy tail. But the truth is they are friendly and wait to be touch (^-^)

      Starfish!! Such a cutie!

Then we move on and found this place

These Magical Vacuum Aquariums is a special place where it defies gravity and water doesn't go out when we stick our hands in the holes. Such a great trick (^ - ^)

So, I learn something new in here and this Oceanarium also gave us a paper of dual language (English and Bahasa Malaysia) quizzes that need to be answer and in return we will get a mystery gift.

We have to stamp the answer according to the station provided there

Example of station

Other than sea creatures, this Oceanarium also offers reptiles and butterfly

O-hai Bearded Dragon Lizard (^ - ^)

Want to see more what sea creature been offer here? And why my sister been eaten by Bruce the Big Bad Shark?

Find out more in Part 2 and expect some drooling cuisine in my next blog!

Till next time, xoxo, Hanna

Healthy Mixed Fruit Infused Water

Salam and hello to all of you! (^-^)

The weather nowadays are slightly hot and yesterday in Sungai Petani, Kedah, the temperature risen up to 35 degree Celsius!

Pretty hot isn't it?

So, we need to take a very good care of our self and drink a lot, a lot of water to quench our thirst, keep our body temperature to normal and to hydrate our self.

I am not very keen person to only drink plain water since I am a sweet tooth  kind of person. I love soft drinks, juices and cordial. But for this year, I decide to change my habit for the sake of my health.

But how to keep myself hydrate by drinking plain water? For me, plain water taste...plain...Fullstop...*sigh*

While surfing the internet, I finally found the solution.

The magic word : Infused water.

Pretty word, isn't it?

So, the "Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo" Hajime Kindaichi appear inside me

What is infuse water?

Picture from Google Search.

According to my reading, as I can summerise it a process of adding fruits and herbs in water and left it chill in your refrigerator overnight or simple drink it in room temperature after adding the selective fruits and herbs in your plain water.

Simple isn't it? (how many times I use 'isn't it?' in this blog? Gomen-nasai..)

Some people exchange the plain water with coconut juice or sparkling water...But it's up to the preference of one individual.

Sound interesting, fun and healthy as well.

And I found so many recipe and picture which encourage me to try on my own.

Pictures from Google Search.

So I started to make 2 yesterday

How does it look? Sooo pretty! (^ - ^)

You can use Mason Jar, Tupperware bottle,  glass with lid or jug to do infused water. But in my case, I only use Lady's Choice Mayonnaise Jar ( I have it around 20 jars been kept in our kitchen - my dad really love to keep glass jar)

For this one, I have add slices strawberry ( around 10 slices), red grapes ( 5 slices) green grapes ( 5 slices) and 5 fresh mint leaves. And then I add water from Coway water dispenser.

While for this one, which I use Tupperware clear bottle, I have add 1- slices of red apples, red grapes (I think around 10 slices) and 10 slices green grapes. Lastly, to experiment with taste, I end up adding coconut juice which I find taste is really refreshing.

I enjoy doing it and it's kind of fun doing experiment on mixing this and that fruits. Feels like I have my own lab science in the kitchen. (my mom always keep an eye if I making a mess in her kitchen, but I always clean up the kitchen after using it :D )

For today, I have add cucumber, lemon and fresh mint leaves. Base on my google snoop, this mixture manage to aid weight loss and make your skin supple. Speaking about 2 in 1 benefits and I can enjoy drinking plain water without worrying about calories and sugar contain (^-^)

Hope you guys can give a try and enjoy it as much as I do.

Till next time.

Have a great weekend tomorrow!

Kawaii Findings: Doraemon x White Castle Butter Cookies

Every Saturday, it's kind of routine for me to go to this supermarket called 'Billion' near my office. The reason is to buy canned food for my cat.

Yes, I have a cat. (^ - ^)

Why Billion? This is because they have been selling 'Friskies' brand canned food at the cheapest price compared to other supermarket at my hometown in Sungai Petani. So why spend more to get the same good quality product where you can get the lowest price in Billion? So, here I go to Billion every Saturday to serve 'The Furball Queen' at my house (^ - ^)

'The Furball Queen'

After choosing 2 types of flavour Friskies canned food, my eyes suddenly caught an attention with this kawaii product

It is butter cookies White Castle x Doraemon. Isn't it adorable?

With only RM 10.90, you will get 1 tin of butter cookies and free chocolate breakfast cereal.

The attractive packaging makes me to buy it without the second thought. *Marketing, why thou art so genius?*

Here is the rest of the packaging

Review on Flower Pot Ice Cream

Have you ever heard about Flower Pot Ice Cream?

Well, if you are staying in Malaysia, this ice cream is an 'it' thing nowadays.

Besides, it's pretty hot in Malaysia right now and this ice cream will help you to cool you down.

I always found lots of post on my Facebook wall, but unfortunately I never have any chance to taste one.

But guess what? I finally taste one last week! *happy..happy..joy..joy..* (^-^)

This is how my Flower Pot Ice Cream looks like

So basically, it is an ice cream ( or 2 or 3 ) scoop been put in a flower pot rather than putting in a plastic cup, paper cup or ice cream cone.

First, slices of  fruit cakes or banana cakes ( it can be any cake, but for this one, I choose banana cake) to be put as the base of the ice cream.

Then, in my case, 3 scoops of raspberry ripple ice cream been put on top of the cakes. (They offer lots of range of ice cream, but at this kiosk, only have 3 flavor - raspberry ripple, chocolate and vanilla)

And then, crushed Oreo cookies been put on top of the ice cream to represent 'soil'

Add some sugar sprinkles, coco crunch cereal, honey star cereal and cheap almost look like M&M chocolate inside it...

And lastly, stick the 'Love Letter Julie Brand' biscuit on the top of it.

Tada.. Presenting.... 'the' Flower Pot Ice Cream.

It's kinda cute and colourful, but for RM5.00, I don't feel it is reasonable to charge that price with this kind of quality.

The taste is just plain. 'So - so'

Nothing much to proud of eating it, kind of disappointing my high expectation.

But the seller work of art can be applaud of (weak applause..sigh)

Maybe this seller did not put much effort on it since when I Google from other seller, their ice cream looks like this

Pictures: credit as per watermark and Google Search

These 2 picture looks so appetising and interesting as well. I won't feel bad paying RM 5.00 for such experience.

Anyhow, that is how I experience my first Flower Pot Ice Cream. Maybe my view will change when I manage to find a great, cool and meet my expectation some time.

Just keep searching and I will find one someday (^ - ^)

And I will make a comparison review then  :)

This is my Rating Looks Like

a) Presentation

b) Effort of the seller

c)Taste

d) Cleanliness

e)Work Of Art

f)Kawaiiness

How is your Flower Pot Ice Cream Experience?
